Found: 1967Type: Iron, IIE, Coarse Octahedrite, bandwidth 2.0 mm, with pallasitic portions.Description: A mass of 272.3 kg was found in bed of a stream flowing into the river Hekandue, a tributary of the Jasachnaja, a second mass, 50 kg, was found later. The coordinates are of the town of Seymchan. A real place on Google Earth fine to watch Analysis: (.15% Ni, 24.6 ppm Ga, 68.3 ppm Ge, 0.55 ppm Ir. (From Catalogue of Meteorites (2000). In 2004, Russian meteorite hunters recovered more pieces including parts that are pallasites. The Seymchan meteorite was discovered in Magadan, Russia in 1967. The original find was classified as a type IIE iron meteorite. In 2004 a new expedition spent several weeks camped at this extremely remote spot. A number of new finds were made, including specimens that were part iron and part pallasitic, and some beautiful specimens that were entirely pallasitic.
