Recently the Canadian government allowed the export of Springwater meteorites that were found by us during an extensive search, after several years of waiting on the export process I finally have slices to offer. This is a 20.7 gram slice from one of the of one of the most beautiful pallasites in the world, this slice is very thin and shows lots of translucent olivine crystals, it measures 67 x 50 x 1.5 millimeters, it is polished on one side, and etched on the other. The strewnfield has been systematically hunted by our Springwater team for years, no new large pieces have been recovered, and I will soon run out of slices to offer so don't miss out on this opportunity! Springwater's stability is comparable to Esquel and Imilac, and the clarity is superb, a must for any serious pallasite collector. The slice will be shipped with an specimen label. Three large masses (38.6 kg, 18.6 and 10.6 kg) of this pallasite were found near Springwater, Saskatchewan in 1931. Other fragments have been recovered by our team in recent years, including a 53 kg individual that I co-found in 2009 that is now in the Royal Ontario Museum. Thirty percent of the meteorite is the iron-rich metallic phases kamacite and taenite , with the rest mostly made up of olivine . There are minor amounts of other minerals, including several phosphates such as farringtonite read more
