An 1808 Hymnal from the Collection of the late Dr. David H Tripp "The Double Hymnbook" 1808 copies of both books bound together in 1810, combining a 35th ed. The Methodist Pocket Hymn-Book, Revised and Improved (NY: John Wilson and Daniel Hitt, for the Methodist Connection in the United States, 1808) J C Totten, Printer together with 1st ed . A Selection of Hymns, From Various Authors, Designed as a Supplement to the Methodist Pocket Hymn-Book, Compiled under the direction of Bishop Asbury First Edition (New York ,John Wilson and Daniel Hitt, etc. [as above] John C.Totten, Printer, 1808). Leather bound volume intact with "Methodist Hymns" faintly visible on spine. About 3 1/2" x 1 1/2 x 5 1/2." Water stains upper portion of first title page & nearby. Leather cover has edgewear and scuffing, but binding is tight. Paper throughout: foxing and some stains, there is what Bella thinks might be a tiny bit of ancient mold inside covers near binding. It looks quite harmless There is a faint inscription of the period inside the back cover, upside down. The "To the Members and Friends of the Methodist Episcopal Church" prefacing the 1st volume is signed by Francis Asbury and William M'Kendree.
