Up For Auction! Metlox Uncle Sam Cookie Jar! One of the rarest of all jars made by Metlox, The "Uncle Sam" jar was produced (we have been told) to celebrate the bicentennial in 1976. Is is unknown exactly how many of these jars were produced. Metlox produced cookie jars from 1947 until the factory closed suddenly in 1989. Metlox cookie jars are extremely sough after by collectors because of their high quality, beauty, durability, and theit superior glazing, with a beautiful high gloss finish. Do you know how Metlox got their name? The name was derivied from the metal-oxide paint the used in their early glazes. This jar is being sold by the 2nd owner, who has held this jar for nearly 15 years. It measures just under 14 inches in height (with the lid). It is in perfect-mint condition! No chips or flaws, and has NEVER had a cookie inside it. This jar may be viewed in Supnicks "Wide World of Cookie Jars" on page 218 - valued at $1600-$1800! This would make a great addition to your collection! This is a no reserve auction! We highly encourage purchasing insurance, as we are not responsible for items lost or damaged by the USPS.
