Mettlach, Germany, is the city where the Villeroy and Boch factories worked. They date from about 1842. PUG means painted under glaze. We will quote shipping charges at time of the sale. Buyers will be responsible for shipping and handling. This beautiful old punch bowl dates 1896 (from the mark) and is heavily decorated. Two fish form the handle to the lid. From what I have been told the lid has the names of places in Germany on it while the under plate has sayings referring to drinking. There are women and men dancing and partying around the outside center of the punch bowl. The detail work in this piece is excellent. The under plate measures approximately 16" in diameter and the lid measures 9.5" in diameter. From the handle on one side to the handle on the other side measures approximately 14". Its height from top of lid to bottom of plate is 16" tall.
