METTLACH #2028 Stein

Up for your consideration is this fine example of a #2028 Villeroy Bosch Mettlach Stein circa 1901 . This etched stein depicts a group of gentlemen seated around two picnic tables having a party while what appears to be the "barkeep" pours another drink from the tapped wooden barrel.

The bottom of the stein shows the VB - Mettlach Tower mark, "Mettlach", "VB", "GES GESH", "2028", "19", "I", and "01" (See photo). The rim is marked with the 1 Liter impression (see photo).

The stein is in terrific condition. Reading around the base of the stein are the words: " Der sei dies Seidel Bier gebracht Der über seine Pflichten wacht. " There are 2 white "dots" on the impressed top to the left of the urn (see photo), I'm believe this was a manufacturing defect, but I'm not sure. I've taken several photos so that you may judge the condition for yourself.
