Item listed is a pair of OLD leather Cowboy's chaps. They w made around the 1840 period in San Juan del Rio, Durango State, United States of Mexico. The chaps are 33 inches tall and 19 inches wide at widest place. T is a leather pocket on one side with leather flap with tooling on it. It has leather tied buttons. They appear to be form the repairs made in 1921. At the bottom on one side t is a repaid made to the inside. One side has several breaks or cuts under a inch. On the side with the pocket t is a 3.5 inch break in the leather. If you are a chap colector you will know that the charro chaps button tighly around the leg. The chaps have many brands burned into the leather. None are deep. If you have questions email me. History of chaps: I received them in 1963 in the summer in Chihuahua City in Mexico. They w a gift of Mrs. Luz Villa. They w part of the personal things from the estate of Francisco Villa her late husband. The story her husband told her was this was the only thing he had of his father. With that she found out that he had been the biological son of a wealthy Mexican land owner. His name was Senior Don Luis Ferman Gurrola. He had relations with a maid which was Villa's mother. By the time Francisco was born she had married the man who would give him his name. The baby was named Jose Doroteo Arango (born June 5, 1878, died Ju;y 20, 1923). This father was to live until the boy was around twelve. The chaps became his at this death and his mother, Micaela told hin the story of the chaps and who his real father was. Pancho used them as a young man as his father had to work with the cattle. They w with his throughtout the revolution. If you are a collector of old historical chaps these will go good in your collection. The winner will pay postage. I will send to the United States in a prive truck and then they will be sent by UPS. Francisco Villa, mentioned previously, is best known by his nickname "Pancho." He was provisional governor of the state of Chihuahua in 1913 and 1914. He is best known for his role in the Mexican Revolution. He was quite a general and was known throughout Mexico as a legend.
