While zealously defending their lands and traditions, the members of this ethnic group have remained open to contact with the outside world thus avoiding the trap of overprotectiviness that can only lead to cultural stagnation. Especially in recent decades, Huichol creators have been developing new kinds of artistic expression with truly surprising results.
