Dona Rosa Oaxaca, Mexico Black Pottery Ewer Beautiful example of Oaxacan Black Pottery by famed potter Dona Rosa who passed away in 1980. Slab built squared ewer shape with applied and carved floral and leaf design is in excellent, as-made condition with no damage or disappointments of any kind noted. No chips cracks, hairlines, fleabites or repairs. T are, of course, the tooling and burnishing marks created as the artist finished her piece. Vase dates from 1960's. Ewer measures about 3" square by 3 3/4" high with a 2 1/2" diameter opening. Signed on base with incised, Dona Rosa, Coyotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico.
