This is a wonderful set in mexican silver with 9 lovely medallions on the necklace and 6 on the bracelet. just stunning. people will be speaking to you and their eyes will be on the necklace. Its irresistable! I think since the lines of the disk flare outward beginning at the center w the stone is, it catches the light and peoples attention.
Always a winner, amethyst draws us.
Amethyst for mexicans means protection. The women believe that wearing this stone will protect you from distracting jealousies that leave you weak and then leave your husband open to a vixens taking! I loved living in Mexico. I enjoyed hearing all the tales of magic and special powers they believe so many things have. So many of them are superstitious. This is probably why so many silversmiths in Taxco loved to use this stone. Many other cultures believe that amethyst has powerful attributes. Its considered to be the stone that can protect you from harm.
Marked MEXICO SILVER on the clasp tongue of the bracelet. the design looks very 1920's just before Taxco met our wonderful william spratling. The Art Deco period began with the end of the Art Nouveau period
in approximately 1909 and continued through the early 1940's. Placing this piece in the time of deco.
Necklace measures about 18" and bracelet measures 7 1/2". In excellent vintage condition. each disk is about 1 inch across
