illustrated with spread-winged eagle with rayed background in center; this excellent poster reads Recruiting Rendezvous/FOR MEXICO!! SANDY HILL. Young, Able Bodied Men, of good character, between the ages of 18 and 35 years, and over 5 feet and 3 inches high, will be received in the 10th Regiment of United States Infantry for during the War, or five years IN ADDITION TO THE PAY, CLOTHING, RATION, & etc., the recruit will receive 12 DOLLARS BOUNTY, three months pay in advance, and ONE HUNDRED & SIXTY ACRES OF LAND, TO BE selected by the recruit from any of the unoccupied lands of the United States, or at his choice, $100 U.S. Script, drawing six percent interest per annum. Two dollars will be paid to any citizen, non-commissioned officer, or soldier, who shall bring an accepted recruit to the rendezvous. Traveling expenses will be paid to the recruit from a distance. OPENED ONLY FOR A FEW DAYS. DATED MARCH 15TH, 1847. M. S. PITCHER, CAPTAIN U.S.A.; 11.5 x 16`; in new frame 19` x 23`. This unit did fight under Taylor and was one of the few regular Army units within an Army made up almost entirely of militia; dry mounted against a card backing.
