You are bidding on a phenomenal pair of sterling silver earrings with genuine amethyst, coral and turquoise stones. These were made in Mexico City by Don Ismael Rivera Gomez nephew of Diego Rivera (a well known muralist and husband of Frieda Kahlo). Mr. Rivera is now 82 and still producing these beautiful pieces in the style of Mathilde Poulat and Ricardo Salas. The Rivera line with bizantine influence with a strong Mexican flair was designed by famous Frieda Kahlo and Diego Rivera and the combination with Mathilda Poulat, French woman who landed in Mexico in 1920 who learned how to manage silver as a noble material for creating jewels, together they developed this line and nowadays is still being developed by Don Rivera in a very limited production. The earrings measure 2" long and 7/8" at their widest. The stones are genuine and in excellent condition, no cracks or scratches. These are for pierced ears and still have their original sturdy butterfly backs. The one earring is signed MR-38 (M for Mexico and R for Rivera) 38 is for the 38th person to be registered under the letter R. The other earring is marked Hecho en 925 RIVERA Mexco. These are fairly light, so won't weigh the lobes down. Thank you for looking!! See my other Taxco Mexican pieces listed this week.
Correct spelling should be Matilde Poulat, thanks for bringing to my attention.
