I recently re-commissioned this 1979 Pageant Blue MGB after it had spent 9 years laid up in a dry garage, I bought it from a friend of mine. It was taken off the road in late 2003 and passed it's MOT first time on 17th September 2013. The mileage is 97k and I have a large history file of parts, repair information and 15 MOT's which suggest the mileage is true. Names of previous owners are also present and receipts going back to 1991. The engine is excellent, starts on the button and pulls very well (rebuilt 5000 miles ago) and the gearbox has working overdrive on 3rd & 4th. The car is very original but it appears some of the panels have been repainted but it drives as it should and has been converted to unleaded petrol. There is a Mohair hood fitted which is in excellent condition except for a small tear in one of the rear quarter perspex windows which was probably caused by poor stowage of the hood. The work I undertook to re-commission it was :- Full Service & fluids change- Replaced rear brake shoes- Replaced all rubber fuel pipes- Fitted new Indicator/horn stalk- Fitted new drivers seat webbing & foam base.- Fitted new wiper arms- Fitted new Clutch fork & Slave cylinder rubber gaiters- Bench tested Fuel pump- Checked and cleaned all suspension and steering gear and greased where appropriate - Bosch battery fittedBefore the car read more
