Up for auction is an OFFICIAL RIAA award commemorating more than 1 million sales of Michael Jackson's smash hit " Thriller ". Michael Jackson's " Thriller ", which was one of the first Multi-Platinumâ,,¢albums ever certified, held the top album slot from 1984 until hisrecord was tied and then eventually broken in 1999. "Thriller" revolutionized the music industry, breaking numerous records. This is a highly collectible & VERY special award, representing one of the very first platinum awards that was given across ALL 3 music formats together: Album, Cassette, & CD It has some damage, but, overall it's a pretty impressive-looking piece!All items inside seem to be holding nice & tight on the original blue matting... no signs of loosening. CD & Cassette look to have no flaws at all, record has some air bubbles in the label & upper portion shows light warp. Outside, plexiglass cover is quite scratched & scuffed from years of moving & storage, but seems to have done a fine job of protecting the stuff inside.Black frame is solid, but scratched in places. Backing is completely intact. Depending on the lighting, sometimes the flaws are visible, sometimes they're not.The first photo you see was taken WITHOUT a flash... in this gentle light, the award certainly looks stunning & damage is barely visible. The second photo was taken WITH a bright flash... not so flattering... lots of scuffs & scratches.Third photo shows close-up of RIAA hologram (Yep... it's the real thing!) To protect the privacy of the person to whom this award was originally presented, I covered the name with a piece of blue paper while taking pics of this item. A new piece of plexi or real glass on the front of this would make it look SO STUNNING!Although, with or without a new frame & plexiglass, it's an awesome piece of music memorabilia to hang on the wall of your home or studio... ...and a very unique opportunity to own an important piece of music history!
