Very early 1930s made in Germany Mickey Mouse bisque figures playing instruments - horn like a saxaphone & violin. Another collector recently pointed out to me the difference in these 2 figures. He said the violin player is wearing a skirt & not shorts. If that is the case than the band included a Minnie among the Mickeys. Disney German bisque from the 30s is very rare. I believe t are 5 different musicians & at 1 time or another I had maybe 4 different but these are the only 2 I own now. The company making these figures followed the artwork used in Germany for things like postcards & product tins & some toys. Note especially the striped shorts, the rat like pointy snout & the 5 well defined fingers. 2 3/4" tall. Both figures are seated on a base which is marked GERMANY in back. Horn player is in excellent condition. The violin player was broken at the neck & reglued. The black paint has been touched up as well which covered the repair line & more. This highly stylized Mickey representing the German & Dutch influence outside Walt's control has a great deal of collector appeal. Please look at and compare the striped shorts Mickey on the postcards I have for sale on eBay now & the great Belgian biscuit tin with 5 images of Mickey in striped shorts.
