Mid 19th Century “Berlin Porcelain Sweet Dish”
At the beginning stood the citizen of Berlin buyer and Wollzeugfabrikant William Caspar Wegely, which created 1751 the first citizens of Berlin Porzellanmanufaktur and into the year 1757 operated these. The porcelain of its Manufaktur is today very rare and desired. They are characterized by very beautiful white pieces of broken glass and are marked by a under-glaze-blue W. Further for the early period citizen of Berlin of porcelain very important Porzellanmodelleur and Arkanist Ernst Heinrich realm pool of broadcasting corporations is to be called. It was first active as a Modelleur with Wegely. It we have the Putten afflicted with so self-willed civil charm, allegorischen figures, to owe Kavaliere and galanten ladies. After the locking of the Wegely’ factory it operated a workshop-similar porcelain manufacturing in Berlin, over which however so far only relatively little admits is. When the entrepreneur intended Johann Ernst Gotzkowsky to follow the desire Friedrichs of the large one a new Porzellanmanufaktur in Berlin to establish, sold E to it. H. realm pool of broadcasting corporations on 11 January 1761 beside its small enterprise also the Arkanum, thus to a certain extent the know-how for the manufacturing of porcelain. E.H. realm pool of broadcasting corporations were taken over Arkanist of the Manufaktur and also its eight persons employed. J.E. Gotzkowsky, by the Prussian king as entrepreneurs very estimated and promoted, used the favor of the hour and could further important artists and coworkers from the Saxonian Manufaktur in Meissen abwerben. Saxonia was occupied in the time of the seven-year-old of war (1756—1763) of Prussian troops and the Meissener porcelain Manufaktur practically in the hand Friedrichs of the large one. With these specialists then - in the Leipziger road 4 in Berlin - in only few months a quite efficient Porzellanmanufaktur developed. The porcelain is marked by a under-glaze-blue G., them is however today so well untraceable. In only few museums and public collections therefore appropriate pieces are, usually are it individual parts from coffee and Teeservicen. As first director Johann George Grieninger was used, a very lucky choice. When J.E. came to Gotzkowsky due to its speculative cash transactions into ever more difficult financial driving water, the king acquired in the meantime the well set up enterprise in the autumn 1763 - once, in order to save the outstanding citizen of Berlin buyer from the threatening bankruptcy, above all however, in order to protect the recent enterprise, which to him so much because of the heart was, the early fall. With the assumption of the Manufaktur by Friedrich the actual success history now of the “royal ones” porcelain Manufaktur in Berlin began the large one. At the Leipziger road convenient production buildings 1868 to their current location at the station zoo were originally shifted. Here we have one mid 19th century “Berlin Porcelain Sweet Dish” beautifully hand painted birds and insects. This measures 5 inches high, 5 inches long and 3.5 inches depth (front to back), signed. This is with a small damage to the inner rim of one bowl (repaired and with a faint hair line ) (see Image), otherwise in good condition.
