A beautiful Italian Mid-Century Modern Art Pottery Vase from the 1950's - 1960s up for auction. Vase was commissioned and imported by Rosenthal Netter. They imported decorative pottery from Ceramica Bitossi in Italy - this design is by Bittosi Master Ceramicist Aldo Londi. This vase has a gritty rough cork like surface, created by Londi's technique of mixing rough clay grains into the base clay. Glazed in the rare White color - with dark brown rough clay exposed on the rim, base and 2 center bands. Shiny white glaze finish inside of vase, as well. There are stylistic marks, scrapes and skips, and glaze marks consistent with hand made, hand finished, and hand glazed pottery.Wonderful overall condition with indented glazed center band, lending to its fabulous design. No chips or cracks. Vase measures 11. 5" tall. It is quite heavy and thick, weighs 5 pounds. Original "Made in Italy 1038" production and model label, but is missing the original "Rosenthal Netter" sticker, although if you are a fan of Aldo Londi's pottery, you will surely recognize his work. Ready to display in your Mid Century or Modern décor.
