We believe this to be a large Italian Raymor or Rosenthal-Netter pottery sculpture or wall hanging of a king or large chess piece with a nice blue lava-like brick glaze. � It is marked on the very bottom edge N or M. Renfro. � Again, it is either a sculpture or could be used as a wall hanging as there is a hole for hanging in the back. � The vibrant blue coloring and the art design are just beautiful with great patterns and designs on the body and sides of the piece. � The work is similar to other pieces of pottery designed by Lon Bitossi but this piece is signed with another artist's name. � The overall condition is nice for its age, no major chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. � I have pictured a bottom corner edge chip (very thin ) about 1/2 inch long and there are also some areas of wear but nothing considered major. � There are also some small areas where you can see through to the underglaze (white) but these could be remedied by actually coloring them in and are not a major issue. � The back has four large round felt pads for wall or surface protection. � The signature is found in the last picture and I could not find any information on this artist. � Any information is appreciated. � And yes, the piece may be American but still it is a great mid-century modern design. � The king stands about 10 1/2 inches tall. � The king read more
