MIKE SEKOWSKY ORIGINAL ART #2 FROGMEN The second of two pages of original art by classic Golden-Age artist, Mike Sekowsky. The story from which this page comes is titled “Black Gold” and it is page 10 from issue #7 of Dell Publishing’s, “Frogmen,” dated November of 1963. This page is a huge twice-up size of 22 x 15. Anyone with interest in how comics art SHOULD be done should be interested in this. This is comics artwork where the art is actually working with the writing to tell a story and not a series of over-rendered, static pin-ups to show off by. Sekowsky’s characters have a range of realistic expressions, not just grim. There are no extraneous details, everything on the page helps to tell a story. Sekowsky was very much from the Alex Toth school of comics art, his figures are realistically proportioned, even on his Justice League stuff. Condition of this page is excellent. Like most Gold/Silver Age artwork, there is some white-out used. White-out on this page is pretty much used only to correct. No rips or tears, no clipped corners. Lettering is on the page not paste-ups. No editor’s notes in the margins. You can still see traces of the pencilling read more
