MILITARY CROSS, 1914 STAR, WW1 WAR MEDAL and WW1 VICTORY MEDAL You are bidding on a set of 4 full size display quality replica medals complete with ribbons. MILITARY CROSS There was no gallantry award, lesser than the Victoria Cross and Distinguished Service Order, for junior Army officers and warrant officers until shortly after the outbreak of WW1 when the MC was instituted. An ornamental cross with straight arms terminating in broad finials decorated with imperial crowns. The royal cypher appears at the centre and the cross is suspended from a plain suspension bar. Ribbon is three equal stripes of white, deep purple and white. 1914 STAR Commonly known as the Mons Star. Awarded to all those who had served in France and Belgium between 5 August and 22 November 1914 . Medal comes complete with '5th Aug. -22nd Nov. 1914 ' clasp and rosette. A crowned four-pointed star with crossed swords and a wreath of oak leaves, having the royal cypher at the foot and a central scroll inscribed AUG NOV 1914. Ribbon is watered silk red, white and blue.
