This unusual piece simulates a kerchief covered bowl with the four corners gathered at the top where the ends meet to form the finial on the piece. Baby bird’s heads stick out from the top and sides. It is just over 4 ½ inches tall. The origins of this piece were finally identified in the September 2003 Opaque News: “The maker of this intriguing piece is Riihimaen Lasi Oy, a glassworks in Riihimaki, Finland. The item is shown on page 35 in the company’s catalog, dated 1939, and is assigned the number 5652.” Condition is good with all the bird’s beaks in perfect condition. However, there are a couple of small chips on the bottom edge of the top (probably from repeated use). The base is in perfect condition. No questions asked return policy. Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end, unless I am notified. I will gladly combine shipping on multiple items to reduce costs. I will not change the format of the auction once it is running. It is not fair to other bidders. Please do not ask for a “Buy It Now” or for us to end the auction early. The only time I close an auction early is when I inadvertently break an item before the auction ends. If you are the winning bidder, your item will be securely packed and shipped promptly. Shipping: $12.50
