You are bidding on two Millers Falls #709 Buck Rogers wood planes as pictured.Both are marked "MILLERS FALLS No 709 PAT PENDING" on the left side, and the irons on both are marked with the MILLERS FALLS logo. Both are about 10-3/8" in length.The plane on the left (with the more orange color) is in very good condition, except for the rear handle and front knob. The rear handle is missing a chunk at the top rear, and both have faded somewhat. The front knob is intact but with some scratches. The bottom and sides of the body have some patina, but there is nothing even close to pitting. The lever cap is very good, and the iron and chipbreaker will be as good with a light cleaning. There are a few scratches in the gray finish, and it would benefit from a light cleaning as well.The plane on the right (with the more red color) is not in quite as good of condition, except that the handle and knob are much better, and the lever cap is broken. The rear handle and front knob are very good, with only a few scratches, and something white to clean out of the grooves in the rear handle.The bottom and sides again have some patina, but again nothing even close to pitting. The iron and chipbreaker also have some patina, and there are some scratches in the right side of the frog.Except as noted, there are no cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything operates properly.Between the two, you can make one very good plane, and have quite a few good parts left over.SHIPPING: 9 pounds when boxed. I tend to rotate back and forth between groups of metal planes and parts for them, and then groups of American and British molding planes, and then back to metallic planes again. But every so often I sneak in something else, such as chisels and gouges, bevels and squares and gauges, books about tools and reprint catalogs, and a variety of other tools. So I might not have any chisels for a month, and then have 30 or 40 chisels all listed at the same time. So please keep watching my auctions! Or if there is something specific that you are looking for, please let me know so that I can get it listed for you to consider. And if you, like me, are tired of the disappointments as a shopper -- misleading descriptions and poor photographs, "fine" tools that turned out to be repainted when you got them, non original parts that weren't mentioned, and poor packaging, -- then I encourage you to follow my auctions. I come from the handshake school of doing business, and hopefully you are like me and understand what that means. ETHICS IN DESCRIPTIONS: I also buy for my collecting on eBay, and I have been burned too many times by misleading (duh did I forget to mention .......) descriptions, and auctions with pictures only of the left side because the right side was trashed. Life is much simpler for me if I disclose what I know or see about an item before you bid, and especially before you receive it in the mail. If I have added or replaced a part, I will tell you.
