Millers Falls No.814 Circa early 1960's to 1974When the Millers Falls Manufacturing Co. phased out the 'V' Line trade mark planes in the early 1960s Millers Falls reverted the color of their planes handles and frogs, and reverted them back to the original black color combination. S o production years of this plane can be dated fairly accurately to within the early 1960's 'V' line demise on, and up to around 1974.This plane does show light useage on the sole but looks to have spent most of its time sitting around collecting patina if you ask me. Over time there has been some paint loss occurrence mostly on the toe of the sole, and it could do with a touch up if I were keeping it. The blade will need to be sharpened as it is evident by close inspection that it has seen a couple of tack nails somewhere along the line causing a couple or three nicks to the blade's edge. (see pic.) However it does have an e xcellent full length blade with the original factory grind by the way, more evidence that it has just been sitting around. No deep gouging usage marks or 'crosshatching' on the sole. Some minute partial label loss on the iron cap along with general usage marks. Some play in the lateral adjustment lever, and some light crayon marks on the sole of the plane. No cracks or glue repairs on the tote handle or guide knob. No chips, cracks, read more
