WELCOME CARNIVAL GLASS COLLECTORS! Item Description: This is a beautiful, old and RARE Millersburg PEACOCK AND URN SHOTGUN VARIANT 3/1 Edge Bowl in gorgeous AMETHYST base glass - 7 1/4 inches wide and 1 7/8 inches tall with VIVID, RADIUM MULTI-COLOR IRIDESCENCE! A true gem of a piece! This is an outstanding, vintage Millerburg piece, not marked in any way. If you look closely at the pattern, t is no bowl on top of the urn as opposed to the regular Millersburg Peacock and Urn pattern which has the bowl on top of the urn. These are not often seen and this one is spectacular...a rainbow of iridescent color. It is superior on display...very eye appealing and commands attention in natural light. It is a high quality example of this rare pattern, shape and this color and a fantastic investment quality piece of glass. I have included several photos of the bowl so you can see for yourself. It looks even better in your hands as it is always very difficult to capture a piece like this on film and do it justice. You can reference this piece in David Doty's 1998 Field Guide to Carnival Glass or The Encyclopedia to Carnival Glass and Edwards and Carwile. I guarantee this is authentic, early 1900's vintage Carnival Glass! All pictures were taken outside in natural light...no flash. I never enhance photos, what you see is what you get. I do not use reserves, never have, I believe the buyers should set the value, so bid with confindence and have fun...it will sell to the high bidder. Item Condition: ( Pictures are part of the description...and I include lots of them...so please have a look!) This bowl is in excellent condition ! No chips, cracks or repairs! T are a few scattered manufacturing stretch marks, you must be looking closely to see them. Nothing u ncommon. The base is in excellent condition...very nice...exhibits no shelf wear that I can see. T are a only a couple of very tiny enclosed manufacturing bubbles, again, nothing abnormal. The interior of this bowl is very nice...displays super interior iridescence and I can't make out any wear. It appears to have been nothing but a display piece its whole, long life. The edge treatment is not even all the way around. T is one tiny flake about the size of the end of a pen on the very outside edge. (pictured) I showed it next to the end of a pen and then a side view...showing just how thin of a flake it is. Very, very minor. In my opinion...the color and rarity of this beauty makes it up and then some. The colors are rich and brilliant! The exterior of the bowl exhibits a couple of pin-head sized flecks of loss of iridescence. Very tiny and simply nothing but the slightest hint of wear. T hat is all I can find on this super, gorgeous and rare bowl. I've looked it over hard. I'm being very picky. I included lots of pictures, up close, so have a look. Simply...it is a superb, solid, investment quality piece of glass. THE BEST. I collect Carnival Glass myself and I'm picky with my descriptions, like I like others to be when I'm buying so you know what you are getting. And as all of us in Carnival know color is key and this bowl displays superior color and striking radium multi-color iridescence! It is an excellent example of what Carnival Glass is all about. It has been taken care of and is very clean. If you drove the tires off of your car you wouldn't find a nicer example...don't miss out on this one. The pictures tell the tale, please have a look.
