This is an outstanding CDV of Millie & Christine McKoy conjoined twins born to slave parents in Welches Creek,N.C. on July 11,1851. These twins are regarded as the oldest conjoined female twins on record. They traveled the U.S. and Europe as singers and dancers and were nicknamed "The Two-Headed Nightingale". The twins died Oct.8,1912 age 61 years. This CDV shows the twins at a fairly young age in the 1860's or 1870's. Note the great early guitar standing beside them. This CDV is backstamped by a photographer in Philadelphia,Pa.,Temple of Art,914 Arch St..Size is 4"x 2 1/2" and condition is excellent for around 140 years old. This is a vintage CDV and NOT a copy or reproduction !!
