Rare 9" Milliner Man Doll all Original! This is an unusual very early milliner doll. It looks like it was kept safely in this early glove box for many years, it and kept in pristine condition, the clothing is all intact and sewn perfectly to fit him. This doll was saved by family for many years and the box contains the notes from the family of Mary Ann Peck. The doll belonged to Mary Ann Peck who married William Virgil Peck in July 1830. William lived from 1804-1877. I don't know if she had a daughter Mary Ann. She had 14 children. William Peck was an Ohio Supreme Court Judge from 1859-1864. This doll dates from 1850. Quite a rare find with provenance. This doll was passed through Emily White and daughter Louisa White in Maryland. This doll belongs in a museum, it is so unique among the Milliner dolls. I have not tried to undress him. His clothes are tightly sewn on so perfectly. His wooden hands and feet look great after all these years. I feel no damage to the head and shoulder plate, it is solid. There is a blue ribbon tied around his neck, I moved it around to be sure there is no damage underneath, no damage. I did not want to remove the ribbon. The only damage I see is very slight crazing on paper-mache, and rub to the nose. His hair looks wonderful. The pants have a couple small holes beginning in them from the black dye areas?
