This is an actual hand done original pen & ink newspaper daily comic strip, A TERRY and the PIRATES , this is unsigned but it is by Milton Caniff & dated 12-9, 1944, published by News Syndicate Co, INC. The strip is titled at the top RUN, SHEEPISH, RUN. This early daily strip has 2 main characters Terry & Hotshot Charlie in all 4 panels highlight this World War II-era Terry. In 1946, Caniff won the first Cartoonist of the Year Award from the National Cartoonist Society for his work on Terry and the Pirates. Masterful inking, as always, by one of the titans of adventure cartooning showing both sides of Terry's face and a front and side shot of fellow flyer "Hotshot Charlie", Charlie provided the Comic relief in this short era of this long running strip. This strip's actual art size is about 21 1/2" X 6 1/2" with 4 panels exactly as shown on thick STRATHMORE art board, check the panels out closely.This is in great condition with a few tack holes all outside the art and part of the pasted on war bond stamp image gone on the left side- a very rare and collectible fine piece .
