I am very pleased to offer this utterly mind-boggling, LARGE, Art Deco chandelier with EIGHT long crystal drops and an incredible shade featuring classical motifs including the lyre. From Wikipedia: The lyre is a stringed musical instrument well known for its use in Classical Antiquity. The recitations of the Ancient Greeks were accompanied by lyre playing. The lyre is a member of the zither family, and was ordinarily played by strumming with a plectrum, like a guitar, rather than being plucked, like a harp. According to ancient Greek mythology, the young god Hermes created the lyre from a large tortoise shell (khelus) which he covered with animal hide and antelope horns. Lyres were associated with Apollonian virtues of moderation and equilibrium, contrasting the Dionysian pipes which represented ecstasy and celebration. Besides being quite large (at almost 16-inches) the shade is enlivened by a rich pattern seemingly carved into the thick thick glass, and is incredibly beautiful when lighted. The shade hangs from an impressive Deco brass stem and this is surrounded by 8 long crystal drops hanging from eight brass Deco leaves! WOW! The effect is truly amazing and just gets better when the chandelier is lighted! The brass stem and all the crystal magically glow! But t's more! Nestled inside the eight Deco leaves is a fabulous read more
