MING'S OF HONOLULU HAWAII Black Jade Ring 14K GOLDGold ring with marquis-shaped black jade stone, Hawaiian flowers at the sides. Size 6-1/2. Front of ring is 1 by 1/2 inches. Marked inside of band: "MING'S" and "14K". No damage; excellent condition. ABOUT THIS ITEM: The item in this listing and other eBay listings of mine are from a source who had a relative in Hawaii who acquired these pieces locally and sent them as gifts starting more than 50 years ago. They have not been worn and have been stored for all the years since, so each item is free of any significant wear and near mint or better. ABOUT MING'S OF HONOLULU: According to Mark Blackburn in Hawaiiana: The Best of Hawaiian Design (Schiffer, 1996), "One of the most highly collectible areas of jewelry today, Ming's pieces are highly sought after by Hawaiian and mainland collectors alike." Ming's was first listed in the 1940-41 Directory of the City and County of Honolulu. T were Ming's stores on the mainland and goods were also sold through catalogues. Ming's last retail site, in Honolulu, closed in October. 1999. Many of the pieces were designed by Wook Moon, a renowned artist in jewelry. Most examples are signed "Ming's."
