There are five antique New England Primitive Splint Baskets in this auction. The first basket measures 4 ¼" by 5 3/8" by 3" tall with a 2 ½" tall carved wood handle. In the close-up photograph you will see an arrow pointing to one old break to the nut brown splint. This is the only problem with Primitive Basket and there are no repairs. The next antique Basket is a true Miniature. Measuring only 2 ½" in diameter by 1 ¾" tall it has a 1 ¼" tall carved wood handle. This circa-1900 miniature basket does have damage to one side. The third basket never had a handle and measures 4 ½" wide by 6 ½" long by 3" tall. On the rim is a piece of old wire holding the bent wood rim together. There also are some breaks at one corner. This circa-1900 Splint Basket has a wonderful old color. The fourth basket is in poor condition, but I had to list it because of an old card from the original family, saying it was made by Jack Austin in 1803. The fifth and last antique basket is an antique Woodland Indian Splint Basket. The top measures 8 ¼" by 8 ¾" and the base flairs out to 6 ½" by 9 ½". There is a break to the rim and 3 breaks to the thin horizontals splints. ...
