Baskets of this quality are rarely found , we have owned this one for about twenty years. It was found near Front Royal , Virginia at a country yard sale. I remember the woman we bought it from saying that it had been around the house since her childhood and she was an older person. The condition is nearly perfect with some very minor chips in the weave , I only mention them to be accurate in my description as they do not detract from the appearance or quality of this basket. A very unusual feature is that the "God's eyes" are secured by small forged square cut nails , this was done at the time the piece was made I have never seen this feature on any other basket. It only measures about 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" tall. If you have been seeking a rare and early form miniature basket this one should be the one !
