Up for auction is an original gilded metal wall bracket lamp from the Victorian era. This lamp was bought by me as an idential matched pair (only one for sale!) in situ in an old home in Europe this summer. I know from the home's owner's son that these lamps were in place since new in the late 19th century. The lamp bracket measures 5" high, by 6" wide. The lamp itslef measures 6" high from back to top of shade assembled. It carries an 8 prong foreign burner, with its original perfect glass stepped clear chimney. The white milk glass ball shade is perfect, and has swirls of slight color variation. The top rim of the shade has indentations and variations giving an uneven top rim surface, but t are no cracks, chips, nicks or even flea bites. Based on the like new, unused condition of the lamp, I do not believe it has ever been used. Its absolutely flawless and perfect. The base is likewise absolutely perfect, as is the rare, 8 prong burner. I checked sources, and Smith I has a similar lamp, number 91, and Hulsebus I lamp #86 come close, but this lamp is currently unlisted as far as I can tell. T are no identical lamps shown in any of the references. The motif is of a liberty or cherub's head, whatever you will call it, and t is typical Victorian ornate metal work. Gold in color from gilding, still in place and in very good condition. As always, $1 to start, no reserve! Happy bidding and thanks for looking. DZ
