A lovely miniature silver and enamel stein, probably made in Vienna, circa 19th century. An eagle finial is mounted above a hand painted enamel lid having a white ground highlighting various colorful decorations. The hinged lid has a serrated silver rim around it. When the hinged lid is flipped back, one can see under it a decorative enamel lining and a gold plated finish over the silver. The interior of the miniature stein is gold plated also. The hand painted body has a wrap-around enamel scene depicting three female figures, an animal (that appears to be a cow) and a cherub. A handpainted landscape scene appears in the background. A C-shaped handle is attached to the miniature stein. The handle is decorated with a mask and enamel in white, green, orange and cobalt blue colors. Around the base is a serrated silver attachment. Underneath the lid and on the gold plated surface is the letter A, incised in the center of a octagonal form. Underneath the base is the maker's initials, HB, incised inside a rectangular form. Also appearing under the base is the letter A again, incised inside an octagonal form. The miniature silver and enamel stein is in very good conditon. To the best of my knowledge there are no cracks and no repairs. However, around the lid and underneath the serrated silver attachement is a very small chip on the enamel, about 3/8 inch wide. The measurements are approximately 2 1/8 inches high x 1.50 inches wide (3.81 cm) (to the handle). For this transaction, PayPal is the preferred method of payment. After a cleared payment is received, the miniature stein will be shipped within 5 business days. The Vienna miniature silver and enamel stein will be packed with much care. The miniature stein will be wrapped with tissue paper, unprinted wrapping paper and bubble plastic and then placed inside a sturdy cardboard box filled with packing material.
