Rossi was able to get quickly acquianted with the outstanding characteristics and performance of his 250 Aprilia and he effectively used his skills for his advantage in the fight for positions and tenths of seconds. The 1998 season was a very successful one for Valentino Rossi, he finished among the top three nine times and collected 201 points in total, which made him vice champion and underlined the fact that Rossi successfully advanced to the 250 series.
