This is a excellent condition near mint early c1910 "SQUARE HEAD PROSPECTORS MINERS ROCK PICK" stamped "STANLEY" It was found deep underground in an abandoned 1900S mine and hasn't seen light in over 80 years.. When you hear the word Stanley related to tools you think of a new company, but the Stanley Tool Manufacturing Company had its beginning in 1843, when an enterprising businessman named Frederick Trent Stanley established a little shop in New Britain, Connecticut to manufacture door bolts and other hardware from wrought iron. Rock picks like this were used by prospectors to break open ore samples and by miners in gold and silver mines to cull high grade ore. It measures 13" long and the pick head is 7" long with the early squared off hammer head that is common in the earlier prospectors picks. This pick is in near mint condition with it's original finish on the handle. If you want to own only one really nice prospectors pick this early one is nice...
