Wow! A gorgeous N-scale G 4/5 2-8-0 steam locomotive of the Royal Bavarian State Railways, by Minitrix. In case you missed last week's similar 2903 Bavarian locomotive, fear not! is its glamourous bigger 2-8-0 brother, looking very sharp with even more shiny trim. It looks virtually new. In my opinion it's another one of Minitrix's best efforts, and the reason is the superb tender drive. As made famous by Fleischmann, putting the motor in the tender keeps the mechanism simple, the weight balanced and allows more traction tires to be used. It's really well-done -- smooth, quiet and graceful from slow crawl to top speed. The details and trim are superb. The bright gold trim is a nice plus, including the little bell on the cab roof. And you've got to see the superb little lantern-style lights in action on the front and rear -- they're surprisingly bright. A beautiful performer! In original box, Minitrix 2922.
