Hello All! This is an original General Motors Corporation / Electro-Motive Division publication titled: "Diesel Locomotive Operating Manual for Model SD35 and Model SDP35" and issued as a 2nd edition in April 1965 by EMD's Service Department. This manual was one of two given to us during the mid-1970s by a kindly B&O roundhouse foreman. When we asked if the books might be needed at some point, he replied: " Go on and take 'em home with ya, kid. Them engines never break! ".

The book features a thorough description of this loco class and detailed instructions for its operation. Several sections detail general features, power plant, cab controls, air brakes systems, internal electrics, performance and capabilities, lubrication and cooling systems, steam generators (on the rare SDP35), trouble-shooting, and a myriad of other items of both a general nature and those specific to the class. The EMD SD35 was a relatively-uncommon "second generation" American diesel locomotive with only 360 being produced between 1964 and 1966. Only 35 SDP35 locos were built and were purchased by four railways: Atlantic Coast Line (1), Seaboard Air Line (20), Louisville & Nashville (4), and Union Pacific (10). Our listing pictures offer a few of the illustrations found throughout this excellent vintage railway manual. The SD35 has all but vanished from mainline rails today, but this book will teach diesel locomotive students, historians, and enthusiasts everything they'd ever need to know about the class and offers many details for modellers as well.

The 15 hole-bound book measures 8-1/4" by 5-1/2", contains approximately 150 pages between heavy leattte covers, and is in pristine condition with no wear on its cover, apart from minimal scuffing from having been tucked away on a roundhouse book shelf for over a decade. The interior pages are also pristine with no wear, tears, creases, soiling, holes, scribblings, or browning.

After collecting railwayana for nearly four decades, we've decided it's time to let someone else have a go. Each piece has been presented and described in accurate detail. Please consider placing us amongst your favourite sellers as we add new items quite frequently.

Cheers and Happy Bidding! - "Blackpool Bertie"

We shan't engage in such a dodgy practice in order to save a few bob!

WE'RE NOT CLAIRVOYANT!: If sending your payment by mail, please enclose either a copy of your invoice or a note telling us who you are and what you're paying for (the item's title should suffice). Occasionally, we receive a money order with a scribbled and illegible name in an envelope having no return address and nothing to indicate what the payment is for. This requires trying to sort out the transaction by matching the dollar amount and postmark with unpaid items - a Royal waste of time that doesn't need to be!

PAYMENT CLEARANCE : Merchandise paid by PayPal, cash, or money order will be despatched on our next weekly posting day after receipt. Merchandise paid by cheque will be held for sev...
