DESCRIPTION: Up for bid is a mint American Flyer (by Lionel) New York Central Box Car. The car is part of the "Historic American Railroad #4" train set. Item is Mint and comes in its original factory box! ABOUT THE ITEM: This item was originally purchased for my personal collection. I purchased it when it was originally made available during the mid-1980s. After inspecting it, I left it in its original factory box where it has remained since then. ITEM INCLUDES: 4-9713 New York Central Box Car features opening doors and operating die-cast, knuckle couplers. Original factoy box. PLEASE NOTE: There is one thing worth noting about this item. W hen the mint 4-9713 Box Car was painted at the factory, a finish of some type was applied over the lettering on both sides of the box car . If you look at the car at a specific angle and under certain lighting, you can see the finish. I duplicated these effects and provided an additional photo (photo 7 above) showing one side of the box car. This is apparently somewhat of a common occurrence as I have seen this finish on a number of different 4-97XX series box cars that were produced during this same time period. This item is considered a STANDARD sized item. If you purchase other items that are identified in their listings as STANDARD SIZED (such as standard sized box cars, standard sized reefers, standard sized tank cars, standard sized hoppers, standard sized gondolas, standard sized flat cars, standard sized cabooses. Etc.) I will only charge $3.00 shipping for each ADDITIONAL STANDARD SIZED item when purchased and shipped at the same time. My multiple item shipping discount applies only to items identified as “STANDARD SIZED” in their listings. Here is how it works.
