LISTED WITH A SUB-WHOLESALE RESERVE PRICE and comes to the market in MINT original condition. Antique Yomud Turkoman Asmalyk, West Turkestan, from the late 19th century. The size is 44" by 27" (113cm by 69cm). This piece comes in top collector A+ mint condition. It has a fine weave using very high quality wool that is silky soft to the touch. It has beautiful saturated colors from 100% natural vegetable dyes including a lovely teal green that is not seen very often in Yomud weavings, a stunning aubergine, madder red, indigo blue and terra-cotta orange, that just glow in the hand. It has no rips, holes, tears, moth damage, color run, repairs, or low pile areas. Just perfect. It has been cleaned to museum quality standards and is collection ready. Asmalyks were woven for wedding ceremonies by the bride to showcase her weaving talent and as part of her dowry. They then hung from the rear hips of the lead camel during the ceremony and were later hung in the Yurt as decorative pieces and later they were teaching tools for her daughters to copy to keep the family tradition alive.
