CONDITION: MINT, LIKE NEW JUST HAD $150 CLA by DAG (receipt comes with the lens) • Exterior condition is Mint —I see one tiny pinpoint mark only on this lens, by the “M” mark on the depth of field scale. That’s it. All the screws look perfect and untouched. The elegant Leitz engraving is all 100% perfect, as is the black crackle finish. • All controls are working properly —nice smooth focus and No wear or marks on the iris. • Lens glass appears totally clear to the naked eye. With a glass, I see a few bubbles, and that’s about it. No cleaning marks, fungus, haze, separation or coating degradation. • The correct period Leitz German-made Lens Cap is MINT-, a few small marks on the front, hard to see. • The Leitz End Cap is MINT, shiny and unscratched. • The Leitz Screw-in UVa filter is in perfect condition, no marks or scratches. MINT • The period Leitz Box shows a little wear, and one corner is slightly loose. About EX+ • The Leitz 12585H Hood shows very minor marks, mainly on the front rim. This hood is useful to have, as it fits three 35mm & three 50mm Leitz lenses. MINT- COLLECTOR NOTES—LEICA f3.5 3.5cm SUMMARON Leitz Code: SOONC-MW/SOMWO Hove Rarity Rating: R3 (“Unusual”) Investment Grade: B (See Key below.) • Even today, the 35mm Summaron is still a lens other lenses are judged against! Per Jim Lager, the 3.5 f-stop represents a conservative choice by Leitz - optically, this lens design would perform well at a wider aperture. • Every time I test one, I find myself impressed by the results it delivers. Both the level of detail, and the color. • The M3 version (the only one with spectacles) was in production only from 1956 - 60—19,159 were made. Although production was higher, it seems to be MUCH less commonly available than the f2.8 version • It's light and an excellent performer. It provides high resolving power and excellent color reproduction, both qualities you can see in the attached test shots. VALUE Leica collecting is all about originality and condition! • Lenses in outstanding cosmetic and operational condition, with the correct Leitz caps, UVa filter, hood in their original numbered box, are quite uncommon, and (per Hove) are valued at up to 250% over the Hove Guide listed price of $400. The Hood normally sells in the $80 - $100 range in good condition, and the filter goes for $15 - $25. PHOTO EQUIPMENT CONDITION RATINGS Like New - Usually unused, in complete original packaging, with instructions. Mint - Previously owned and used, but in perfect cosmetic and functional condition. Mint minus - Lower range of the mint. Shows a minor mark or two. Ex+ -Between Mint and Excellent. Excellent - Light signs of use. Might have slight marks and/or dings on finish, typically on corners. Glass very clean, but may show minor cleaning marks. Good Condition - Shows average wear. May have slight dings. Glass very clean. User Condition - Sho...
