MINT CONDITION ANTIQUE TEKKE TURKOMAN 6-GUL TORBA, West Turkestan, last quarter of the 19th century, and in pristine original condition for the collector. The exact size is: 1'-1" x 3'-0" (33 x 92 cm). Intricately woven with over 350 asymmetrical knots per square inch on natural ivory wool warps and finely spun natural medium brown wool or camel hair wefts. This antique Tekke Turkomen shallow tent bag comes in a full pile state of preservation with its original plainweave back. Very good wool quality and 100% natural dyes were used in its making. Clear and crisp field drawing. The border surrounds have Salor and Sarik influence. Remnants of the original multi-colored fringes present at the bottom. The back shows some stains for ethnographic camp and field use as a tent storage bag. Fresh to the market from Turkmenistan. A bit dusty and in need of a gentle hand wash. A GREAT collector bag for any nomadic or tribal rug enthusiast or the Turkoman rug collector specialist.
