History of the Peterson Brand Friedrich and Heinrich Kapp, German immigrants to Ireland from Nürnberg , Germany , founded the famed Kapp Brothers store on Grafton Street , Dublin in 1865. Shortly tafter, a Latvian immigrant, Charles Peterson, strolled into the Kapp workshop and declared that he could make better pipes than they. Armed with an imaginative flair for pipes and a craftsman's background, Peterson not only proved himself correct, but became the third partner in the fledgling firm. K&P Peterson "Irish Whiskey #120" Smoking Pipe - New and Unsmoked This is an auction for a Mint K&P Peterson "Irish Whiskey" Smoking Pipe. This Dublin shape pipe has a great brownish sandblasted finish-- with areas of dark color. It is a very interesting form of rustication-- some very craggy deep areas and areas of very light indentation . The vulcanite stem contains the Peterson 'P-lip'. The pipe comes with it's pipe pouch and box. Overall length of 6"; bowl height of 1 7/8" with bowl opening/width of 3/4". The vulcanite 'P-lip' stem contains the gold Peterson "P" symbol. The shank has a very attractive matching brass rings accent piece . Nomenclature on shank: PETERSON'S Irish Whiskey and Made in the Republic of Ireland and shape # 120 (which is, according to Peterson's classic shape chart, a 'Large Dublin' shape) .
