This bayonet is in excellent condition. T is very little wear. The surface of the metal has retained almost all of its original bluing and machined metal look. The black plastic (or Bakelite if they were using it during this period) grips are in great condition as well. The locking mechanism works perfectly to unlatch the bayonet from the scabbard or from the muzzle of the gun.The bayonet is designed for the M1 Garand used during WWII by the US.The blade says "U. C. / U. S." with the circular flame symbol between the U and S.U.C. is for Utica Cutlery Co., based out of Utica, NY.T is a thick "H" stamped on the top of the handle.Furthermore, the grips are attached with a flathead screw which comes out easily to reveal original oils/grease/cosmoline (?) and the stamp "AB / 4".This bayonet has the same grips as the M-1942.This piece may be referenced in Hardin (#137), Kiesling Vol 1 (#90), M. H. Cole (pg. 33).The scabbard has a somewhat olive colored wooden look although it feels more like a plastic. It is also stamped with the letters "HTK".Overall, this is an excellent collector's piece. Payment : PayPal is definitely preferred but I will accept cashier's checks or money orders if necessary.
