This is the second of two Pine Ridge Sioux pieces I have listed this week. The other is a mug, or coffee cup, signed by Bernice Talbot. This particular vase is signed by Olive Cottier, one of the more gifted artists to work at the pottery. Her excellent sgraffito carving technique is noticed by the great geometric carving noticed on the body of this vase. The piece is in excellent, if not MINT!, condition showing no chips, cracks, hairlines or restorations. The piece was made from local red clay which enhances the gorgeous red-brown glaze used to finish this piece. The vase is 3 3/4" tall. The Pine Ridge Sioux pieces are getting more and more difficulat to find as collectors around the world are beginning to take notice of the great American Art pottery that was produced by the Native Americans. A vase very similar to this can be seen on Page 105 in the Hanson Guide to American Art Pottery. Don't let this one get away. Please e-mail me with any questions or requests prior to bidding and I will return your mail ASAP. High bidder to pay $5.00 flat rate shipping fee to anyw in the U.S. via USPS Priority mail + insurance if desired. Checks must clear prior to shipping. Thanks for stopping by to look, good luck and happy hunting. Please remember to check out my other auctions for the Pine Ridge mug.
