Up for a 7-Day, NO RESERVE auction is a superb piece of signed Rookwood Pottery from 1917. Although it is a factory lamp base, I think it looks just as good holding a candle as it does a shade. Dynamite lotus leaf design and a fabulous speckled-brown "Ombroso" glaze make this piece an absolute stand-out wver it may go. Perfect for any art pottery collection and/or arts & crafts decor. Get it while it's hot.... This fully signed 1917 Rookwood Pottery lamp base stands a full 10.75" tall and is appx. 5.5" wide at its widest point near the flared base. The top opening, decorated with lotus bulbs, is 1.75" in diameter, while the glazed base is just shy of 6.75" in diameter. This is one large lamp base, and it has some heft to it, in addition to its lotus relief carvings. More importantly, this Rookwood lamp base is in MINT ORIGINAL CONDITION . T are no chips, cracks, hairlines, repairs and/or retouches on this piece whatsoever. This piece has been carefully viewed under the magnifying glass, completely acetone tested and blacklighted for complete assurance. It is fully marked under the base with the Rookwood impressed logo, the date (1917) and the shape number of 1283. I can find no artist markings, but they could be obscured by the glaze on the base. Make no mistake, this is one sweet piece of arts & crafts Rookwood Pottery . I accept money orders, personal checks and PayPal, but will wait for PayPal and/or checks to fully clear my bank (usually 3-4 business days) before packing and shipping out any merchandise.
