This is a beautiful 1930s to WWII era Imperial Japanese Navy sailor's sake bottle & cup set. Both are in mint condition and come in their original boxes. The cup is shaped like an army helmet (very common but still makes one wonder how a sailor felt) with AIKOKU (Patriotic) written on top and a hinomaru flag on the back. The inside shows a battleship, rising sun flag and anchor. It reads MANKI KINEN (Duty Fulfilled Commemoration) and HATTORI (sailor's name). The cup measures 2-3/16 inches in diameter. The bottle is decorated with a cherry tree, rising sun flag and anchor. The writing reads GAISEN MANKI KINEN (Triumphant Return, Duty Fulfilled Commemoration) and HATTORI (his name). The bottle measures approx. 5.75 inches tall. The set is guaranteed original. Again, both cup and bottle are mint. See my other auctions for more military items from Japan.
