Minton Cabinet Plate c1880 Fine Minton porcelain plate, glossy deep blue with richly gilded border, and gilded crest of an eagle's head and the motto SUFFER - this is the motto of the Haldane family in Scotland - the photographs do not do the plate justice. The blue is quite rich and deep, darker than on the main photo, the gilding is also much richer than on the main photo. Impressed though indistint MINTON mark, also retailer's name MORTLOCK'S OXFORD STREET under the printed MINTONS globe mark. Pattern number G4209. Diameter: approx. 255mm, or 10 1/8" Very good condition, just some very very slight gilt wear, and a fault on the back (the plate originally had 2 holes for hanging purposes, and one of them must have chipped for it has been ground down.
