Just in time for Holidays Sterling flatware - COMPLETE service for 8 Minuet by International Monogram C or D (depending on which way you look at it... I still haven't figured out why monograms are upside down... to my way of thinking anyway) Sterling service manufactured by International and clearly stamped 'sterling' Minuet pattern Knives - 9 1/2 inches - American maker valued sterling weight is 1 ounce per knife - 8 ounces troy Forks - 7 7/8 inches - combined weight is 492 grams or almost 16 ounces troy Salad forks - 7 1/4 inches - combined weight is 407 grams or over 13 ounces troy Teaspoons - 5 3/4 inches - combined weight is 407 grams or over 13 ounces troy Soup spoons - 5 3/4 inches - combined weight is 243 grams or almost 8 ounces troy Butter spreaders - slightly over 5 1/2 inches - combined weight is 206 grams or almost 7 ounces troy Serving spoons - 8 1/2 inches - combined weight is 258 grams or over 8 ounces troy Service pieces - consult pictures to estimate size - combined weight is 262 grams (taking into consideration the average sterling weight of hollow handles) or almost 8.5 ounces troy I must admit... when my friend called and said that he had a new set for me to look at and then, told me the pattern... inwardly I groaned. Minuet is a mirror finish pattern that does not age as well as the more ornately decorated patterns. I was more than pleasantly surprised. While not happy about the monogram... the condition of this sterling set was surprisingly good. Some of the pieces look as if they were hardly touched. The rest of them show that they have seen some use but have been handled with respect and care. Frankly, this was a set that I considered buying for my son and his wife... but I was just informed that he is becoming a bachelor again so that wouldn't be prudent. Please view the pictures carefully. I generally take my photographs outside in sunlight to accurately depict the colors and conditions of the items I am offering. If you see any discolorations or other anomalies that would indicate damage, it is either the sun, the clouds, the trees, or me. I try to fully and faithfully disclose any irregularities I find but I am far from perfect and some things may escape my detection. Also, when damage (no matter how minute) I try to make sure that it is clearly depicted in the photos. I believe that I have described the above auction offering accurately and in detail. Please consult the photographs or Email me with any questions. My word is my bond. If you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact me within 3 business days to arrange return and a refund of your purchase price. Shipping charges are not refundable. The sterling that I am currently listing are not my property and as such, I am unable to make a 'deal' or entertain a 'Best Offer' scenario. They belong to a friend who is in the precious metals business. He has a warehouse that is stockpiled with sterling items that he has purchased over the last 28 years of business, including more than 100 different silver flatware sets. With the soaring price of silver, he had decided to send them all to the smelter to be melted down. Instead, I convinced him to let me try to offer them on Ebay so that they would not be destroyed. I know that t are silver lovers out t that wish to harken back to the days of genteel dining and gracious living. Besides, I have come to genuinely appreciate anything that is older than me and still survives. Incidentally... just a little math tutorial on how to evaluate the 'true' melt value of silver. I am always a little perplexed by those sellers that insist such and such is the 'melt value', intimating that they can get that amount anyw So 's the real deal. According to Federal law, sterling must assay at .925 per 1000 - also, precious metals are measured in troy ounces (12 troy oun...
