Lovely To Behold Antiques & Treasures A Beautiful Early Miriam Haskell Fancy Stick Pin with a Gilt Metal Butterfly and Floral Motif and Butterfly Clutch. This older Miriam Haskell stick pin is comprised of an antiqued gold gilt stamped metal nasturtium leaf. Decorated atop are five large hand set rhinestones and a floral bouquet of a large elongated baroque pearl and opaque teal and semi translucent cranberry & green colored glass beads, set in gilted metal floral motif settings. Accenting the bouquet is a, true to life, gilt metal butterfly, perched atop a hidden round pearl. The clutch is decorated with a matching butterfly. Both of the butterflies are very intricate in their detail and have a row of baroque seed pearls wired on their bodies. These are accented by two prong set rhinestones tucked in on each side, w the body meets the wings. This pre World War II Miriam Haskell piece is unsigned. Other examples of these stick pins can be found in, Judy Miller's Costume Jewelry, The Jewels of Miriam Haskell, and according to Cathy Gordon's Miriam Haskell Jewelry book, on page 77 and 78, a butterfly clutch is rare. We have also noticed that in these books, stick pins with figurals as part of the decoration are valued much higher. This very old stick pin is in very good condition. The structure and all the original components are completely intact. The gold gilt is mostly still present with some darkened spots in crevices, edges, recessed areas and on the pin heads atop the colored glass beads. All of the nacre is luminous and present on all the pearls and t is just one tiny ding, in the nacre, on the side of the large baroque pearl. The rhinestones are bright, clear and still sparkle. The stick pin measures 2 1/4 inches in length. The decorated nasturtium leaf measures 1 1/8 inches in diameter and is 1/2 of an inch thick, not including the pin stem. The decorated clutch measures 7/8 of an inch in diameter. The total weight of the piece is a little under 6 grams. An uncommon early Miriam Haskell fancy stick pin. * We have found, enjoyed and appreciated these items and now we offer them to you.
