Rare Vintage/Original Photocraft News Photo MISS AMERICA 1949! This is an interesting original silver gelatin fiber-based glossy news photograph complete with adjoining caption carefully and strategically stapled to the back of the photo by the manufacturer--the Photocraft Company in New Haven, Connecticut-- now defunct . Photocraft Company News Photos totally predate the almighty computer, scanners, and macro lens attachments for cameras. Therefore, such photos had to be large in size in order for the cameras of the day to properly photograph the image for newspaper, magazine, and periodical layouts in the 1940s and '50s. Most often, upon serving their purpose, these wonderful historical photos were summarily destroyed. Very few of these Photocraft News Photos have survived over the decades, and this particular photo happen s to be one of the survivors, which features the 1949's Miss America and Runner-Up's! Vintage photographs of Miss America contestants all lined up in a row are rare almost unheard of! By all accounts, this may be the only photograph of this historic event still in existence today! This original one-of-a-kind item measures approximately 14" x 17". Slight rippling along borders and minor surface wear that does not detract.
